About the event

Honey Run ORIGINAL MOUNTAIN MUSIC

Honey Run brings a fun mix of thoughtful original folk music, fast picking and playing, and lively old bluegrass tunes. Beautiful harmonies, by Kat Baker and Owen Ragland are complemented by the fiddle, the mandolin and guitar. The full sound that accompanies the thoughtful lyrics and catchy melodies of Kat’s songs ranges from tender to downright fun. The eclectic mix of oldtimey roots, americana sounds, and "stellar picking" truly creates a unique experience.

Though Honey Run is a brand new group formed in 2020, the band has been busy performing and honing their set playing countless shows over the past few years. Honey Run performed at Strawberry Music Festival 2022 which that same year hosted such legendary acts as: Sam Bush, Watkins Family Hour, The Steep Canyon Rangers, The Rainbow Girls, John Craigie, and so many more. The duo was asked back the following year, this time to open the main stage for acts like Della Mae, and Younder Mountain Stringband.

Honey Run has also performed across California and the Pacific Northwest playing at: The Merced Theatre; The Fallon House Theater, Columbia CA; Sam Bonds Garage, Eugene OR; The Plough and Stars, San Fransisco CA; Secret Trail Brewing, Chico CA; The Owl N' Thistle in Seattle WA; The Landmark Saloon, Portland OR; opening for such acts as AJ Lee and Blue Summit. Summit, Jenny Tolman, Jimbo Scott, Pat Hull, Sourdough Slim & Robert Armstrong, Cactus Bob & Prairie Flour

Late for the Train is an indie-folk string trio rooted in American folk and bluegrass music. Infused with the honest depth of the coastal redwood forests and the heartfelt community of the North Bay, the band provides a playful and poignant musical experience that uplifts the spirit and rouses the soul. Travel back to a time of hearthside storytelling with these California natives, reveling in the rich traditions of Americana, bluegrass, folk, and Celtic music. Their dynamic songwriting is inspired by influences such as Emmylou Harris, Bob Dylan, Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn, Watchhouse, Mipso, and Nickel Creek.

The core ensemble includes songwriters and multi-instrumentalists David Pascoe (guitar/mandolin), Laura Benson (fiddle), and Thom Beneduci (stand-up bass). The trio’s skillful craftsmanship meets tender harmonies and potent lyrics that grapple with all the wonder, contradiction, and truth of living in the modern age. Their debut album, Plant It or Build It, was released on September 4th, 2020.
