Celebrating Black-Owned, Woman-Owned, Veteran-Owned Brewery "Crowns & Hops"

It’s Black History Month and we are celebrating Crowns & Hops, a black-owned, woman-owned, veteran-owned brewery. Crowns & Hops was founded by Beny Ashburn & Teo Hunter and is now one of the most popular breweries in Los Angeles. As a black-owned, woman-owned business right here in historic downtown Murphys, the Murphys Irish Pub is proud to feature Crowns & Hops beer.

Hop Culture’s Best New Brewery of 2020

Crowns & Hops has quickly become one of the most popular breweries in Los Angeles, creating a space where diverse cultures can celebrate their heritage while enjoying quality craft beer. Founded by Teo Hunter and Rob Melendez in 2016, they have earned prestigious awards for their brews such as the “BPLB Hazy IPA” and Allagash collaboration “Cur-8”. As we celebrate Black History Month, it is important to recognize the achievements of black-owned businesses such as Crowns & Hops and Murphys Irish Pub. These businesses have established themselves as independent craft brewers and offer unique experiences for customers that cannot be found anywhere else. Let’s continue to support and celebrate the success of Crowns & Hops and other black-owned businesses!

CUR-8

Blend Of Pilsner And Barrel-Aged Tripel

Cur-8 blends the crisp flavor of Crowns & Hops 8 Trill Pils with notes of caramel, vanilla, and oak from Allagash Curieux. Born from a mutual desire for progress, this collaboration between Crowns & Hops and Allagash is a celebration of shared passion for brewing, innovation, and creating more opportunities for the Black community in and around the craft beer industry.

Proceeds from the sale of this beer go to the 8 Trill Initiative, a development fund with the goal of achieving racial equity in craft beer.
